Who We Are
Arham Foundation, lovingly known as Khichdi Ghar
A non-profit organisation dedicated to serving underprivileged communities across Mumbai.
Founded in 2016 by four kalyan mitras — well-wishers, friends bound by compassion and a shared purpose — we began with a simple act: serving hot khichdi every Sunday at Thakur Village Centre.
What started as a small gesture of love has grown into a movement of over fifty committed volunteers, now distributing meals every day at Thakur Village Centre and every Sunday at Samta Nagar Centre and Asha Nagar Centre.
Beyond food, we extend our care through the distribution of raincoats, blankets, grocery kits and notebooks — because real support means addressing hunger, harsh weather, and the hunger for education alike.
We intend to open more distribution centres in the coming years, reaching further and serving more of Mumbai's communities.
Our Mission
At Arham Foundation, our mission is rooted in a simple human truth — no one should go to bed hungry, no child should sit in the cold, and no young mind should be left without the tools to learn.
Every day, our volunteers show up — not because they have to, but because they believe that one warm meal, one dry raincoat and one notebook can change the course of a life.

What began as four friends serving khichdi on a Sunday has grown into a family of over fifty volunteers across Mumbai — and we are just getting started.
In the coming years we aim to expand to more centres and more cities, because compassion knows no boundary — and neither does our commitment to serve.

From One Pot of Khichdi

2016 · Four kalyan mitras, one Sunday
Khichdi is cooked and served at Thakur Village Centre for the first time. No banner, no announcement — just a pot and four friends.

The Sundays become every day
Word travels. More volunteers arrive. Thakur Village Centre moves from weekly to daily meal distribution.

Beyond the plate
Books, notebooks and stationery kits are added for children from low-income families. Raincoats follow before the monsoon; blankets before winter.

Three centres, fifty volunteers
Samta Nagar and Asha Nagar Centres join Thakur Village for Sunday distribution. Grocery kits reach families who cannot come to a centre.
